This is demanding trip, experience and excellent physical condition is necessary, it will involve crossing of 5 passes at more than 5000 m. There are some lower alternatives if the weather is not agreeable or for other reasons the passes are not safe, but a minimum of 4-5000 m passes are required. On the final portion of the journey there is at least two mandatory 5000 m passes before reaching Jomsom.
The weather in the region is generally good since it is in the rain shadow. Generally the passes all open by April. Certain paths are not easy but present no noteworthy technical difficulties. There will be 4 to 9 hours of walking per day in accordance with trail conditions and altitude, estimated total climbing, descending, distances (total 179 km) and time are listed. This is one of the great treks of Nepal, which is not frequently done. This region, ancient Tibetan kingdom, was opened since 1990, only for limited trekker’s in-group.
